I have been enjoying some of the Olympics but it’s hard sometimes given the incessant Harper/Con television advertising I am forced to watch, bought and paid for with my tax dollars. Buy commercial time with your own party money like everyone else! This picture sent to me by a friend, was included in a serious of pictures of incredibly stupid journalistic headlines. I had to post it because it sums up my feelings pretty well about the enormous amounts of money being spent on advertising inadequate EI benefits and other Con self promotion messages, when we are in a a serious deficit position. Cutting back means setting an example, so it’s time stop spending our money like a drunken sailor tooting your “please love us” message to Canadians. How about taking that money and adding more compensation in EI funding for each applicant?

Try caring more about your country and the economic mess created since you took the economic reigns of power Harper/Cons (and this includes you Jane Taber, h/t Jeff Jedras) and less about yourselves. Giant annual surpluses to pay down debt have been turned into massive deficits in just 3 years. Harper made the biggest cabinet in recent history full knowing we were in a recession and that’s costing us a bundle too. I have not forgotten the prorogue and Canadians, though distracted by the Olympics until Sunday, have not either.

This is fresh video from my partner at AM Fresh of the CAPP pro democracy flash rally that took place in Victoria at the BC Legislature building during PM Harper’s address to the BC parliament on February 11, 2010. Left without a voice in his own parliament because he locked the doors, it’s an interesting contrast to see that BC politicians can still find time to work in their parliament and host an Olympics. We are simply brilliant out here in BC!

Protestors think PM Harper is lost and they want to show him the way to the House of Commons, but unfortunately he took the cowardly back way (twitter rumors say secret tunnel?) out running with his tail between his legs rather than answering to voters. My partner was also able to capture the large, fake PM Harper, greenhouse gas emitting motorcade used to trick the protestors in this video. Why doesn’t he open his own parliament again and make his fluffy speeches there? The Harper/Cons Xmas holidays have gone on long enough and it’s time to go back to work!

Tomorrow provides a second opportunity for Victorians to come together to express their displeasure (h/t the Equivocator) at PM Stephen Harper’s prorogue of our parliament. The Victoria Chapter of Canadians Against Parliament Prorogue (now 225,000+ strong) are organizing a pro-democracy flash rally, Thursday, February 11th at 1:30pm at the BC Legislature front steps to show Harper WE STILL CARE! My partner from AM Fresh has compiled this video of Victoria’s Candlelight vigil for the closure of the Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) program at Queen Alexandra Centre and across BC. The vigil took place Monday, January 29th on the steps of the BC Legislature. I still get teary when I watch the 1st part of the video.

Young Woman From Mile 0 Visits Thailand (pic gallery)

I am reporting on my 19 year old daughter’s year long trip to South East Asia and Australia with a short overview of her recent explorations in Thailand. When I last reported on her travels she was still in Tokyo, Japan. She has really taken to Thailand and has some wonderful pictures to share of her time there. I was quite worried when she 1st arrived because she tried some roof walking (she always liked the roof) and discovered that at least some roofs are not very sturdy in Thailand. She assured me she was OK although she did report some bad bruises on her legs. She promises me there will no more roof explorations in South East Asia. So far she has visited Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pai and Ko Chang.

Arrival in Bangkok Thailand 1st Report:
I am in Thailand!!!! omg omg omg ! lol I cant get over how shockingly different it is. I really didn’t expect this but I am soo excited for it! It’s like a village… there are people selling fresh fruit everywhere and driving shitty scooters and pulling carts… its amazing tho! I haven’t really done alot, we just walked through a market and had breakfast (best smoothie of my life!) but I think we are going to look at some temples and then leaving on an overnight train to Chiang Mai! I’m sooo excited!

I love you so much mumsy. Dont worry about me…I couldn’t be happier. I really feel like I’m supposed to be here right now

2nd report:
I didn’t even think I realized how much I missed you until I called you… it was so weird it just popped into my head that I wanted to call you and I was sooo anxious and my heart was pounding until I found a payphone- I would have been devastated if you didn’t answer the second time. But yeah I’ve been thinking about you alot… every once in a while I’ll be sitting with everyone and I’ll be like ‘ I miss my mommy’ and everyones like ‘we know’ lol

I’m leaving Pai today and going back to Chiang Mai. There’s a huge street party goin on there so we are going to that even though I really didnt like the city all that much- compared to Pai. You should see it here mom, it’s all like grass huts and tiki torches, small markets and outside bars everywhere. It’s actually just incredible. At night they light these candle kites (it’s hard to explain but they just light them and send them off in the air). Yesterday I got to send one off. It’s gonna suck to leave- I could actually live here and be very happy.

Anywho I miss you mum- I am gonna post some pictures tonight in Chiang Mai- I’ve got some really cool ones so im twitching to post them.

I will of course be careful mummy- I put up pictures today, not sure if you noticed but they are there- theres one in there thats like `play is our brains favorite way of learning- totally thought of you and took that pic when I saw that. Love you mummy- have fun protesting (Victoria anti prorogue rally) , I know you will!

I’m in Ko Chang right now- it’s just like a gorgeous island with white beaches and frickan amazing blue waters. We were at the beach yesterday drinking these buckets of liquor ( ‘ like a full micky with a red bull and coke in a mini sand bucket lol). We got prettty drunk, watched fire dancers and chilled on the beach- it was amazing.

Victoria Anti Prorogue Rally-Jan 23(video pt 3)

OK I lied. There are actually 3 videos of the Victoria anti prorogue rally by my partner at AM Fresh and this is the final video. I asked him why he decided to do one more because I know how much time it takes. He said someone always complains if he leaves someone/thing out so he tries to get as much out there as possible. That way he catches as little flak as possible.

In an interesting spontaneous video moment that occurred after the official rally was over, a woman stepped up to the mike and offered PM Harper the “imp award”. She indicated she was censoring her words because children were present. Given Harper/Cons many women’s programs, research, child care and other issues they care dearly about, I suspect many women in this country share her view that Harper’s new imp hat is a hat well-deserved. AM Fresh confirms this is the last video of the Victoria Anti Prorogue rally on January 23rd. It has to end somewhere. Check back for improved clarity as the video is still developing on youtube.
