Now you see, this is a side of Iggy that Canadians haven’t been exposed to. Why the Liberals have been hiding this side of him from voters is beyond me.
If he can present this kind of impassioned and authoritative script on what it means to be a Canadian and what Canada can become in the 21st century, he might actually provide a refreshing contrast to the mean spirited partisanship coming from the Tories. (It will also do wonders at countering the “elitist” tag his political enemies are throwing on him. Canadians can embrace an intellectual if that intellectual helps us feel good about ourselves.)
If he can meet their sniping with quiet dignity and convey a message to Canadians with the same kind of passion we see in the video, he might actually get voters to warm up to him.
I am saying this, by the way, as a guy who voted Tory in the last election.
