20,000 Visitors for New Years

newyear.jpgI am throwing the  ticker tape  today here at WMO and celebrating for both the New Year and my 20,000 visitor to this site since I relocated here on July 16th, 2007.

Today’s Blog Stats Reading:

Total Views: 20,009

Best Day Ever: 302 — Monday, August 20, 2007

Views today: 35

I moved to this address from my
original wordpress blog address that I started back in March 3rd 2007. My old Woman at Mile 0 site passed 16,142 visitors today, but I have not added or posted there since July 16th, 2007. In total I have had 36, 151 visits to both sites.

I have learned quite a bit about the rigors of daily blogging in the past 9 months. This month, after finishing a particularly grueling fall semester along with full time work, I experienced my first serious case of blogger’s block. I stared at the screen and nothing would come out. Not only that, but I just couldn’t bring myself to care a whole lot that it wouldn’t come out.

My regular readers might have noticed that my posts steadily dropped in number as the semester progressed. December will be my lowest months for post on record with only 16 posts over 31 days or about .5 posts per day. In contrast to my 10,000 visitor post back in September, I was averaging about 1.8 posts per day. November was also lower for postings at 23 posts or .75 posts average/per day.

I think this is a sign of blogger burn out, a condition that has afflicted many of the bloggers I have haunted during the past few years. All I know is the last thing I wanted to do was write and it was maddening because I had been looking forward to finishing the semester (Dec 5th) so I would have more time to write. Regardless, I am feeling a tiny bit less blocked this past week and I want to reflect on my postings and traffic for the past 3 months. Perhaps this is a sign that my block is passing and it was only a short term issue for me. I am using my wordpress statistics (I also use another stat counter) to summarize my statistics because the wordpress stats only count unique visitors to your site. They also don’t count your own visits to the site and the wordpress stat counter always reads the lowest of my two counters.

The day I received the highest number of visitors has not changed with my best traffic day remaining August 20, 2007 at 302 visitors. My top posts in order of visitor popularity during the past 3 months have been:

When I Get Older
Confused Liberal
Revelstoke Winters and Housing Prices
On Using Inside Voices, Outside
Feminism Rant
Liberals Want a Water Minister

My post with the all time highest number of visitors continues to be a post I wrote back in April 2007 called Segregation for Children with Special Needs: A Good Idea?

Have a Safe and Happy New Year Everyone!!
